Hello Friends and Neighbors,
 

Do you remember why you chose to move to Sunset Beach? I do. It was the great weather, fabulous beach, low taxes, and friendly neighbors. Another aspect we all treasure is our small-town coastal culture.  I call it Big Beach Small Town.
 

Our local government is comprised of a five-member elected Town Council and Mayor. There are currently four seats on the Council up for election. After serving on the Planning Board for four years, I have decided to run for one of the Town Council seats.
 

The next four years civic leadership must figure out how to accommodate the aggressive development that surrounds us without being overwhelmed by it. 
 

I have a strong record of working to preserve what we all love about our community. I helped rewrite the Uniform Development Ordinances that govern what developers are allowed and not allowed to do.  Sunset Beach is the only municipality that succeeded in passing more stringent requirements for tree abatement and enhanced open space requirements. I negotiated extensively with developers during the Conditional Zoning process, which I helped pass. It resulted in major concessions while creating a path to transform Sunset Beach into a destination golf resort. 
 

We will have many opportunities to meet in the next seven weeks. I hope to talk with you at Meet and Greets, a Candidate Forum, on Social Media or just around town. We should ask all candidates what is your vision for Sunset Beach’s future over the next four years. 
 

Once you have heard my ideas about how we can focus on our future while we preserve the best of our past, I hope you will afford me the honor of serving as your Town Council Member for the next four years.
